Almost a year and a half ago (has it been that long?) I participated in a weight-loss “group” with some bloggers and epreneurs headed by Colin Devroe. During the summer, combined with both the group and preparing for the renaissance festival, I did indeed lose about 15-20 lbs over the course of the summer. Not bad.
But like all good things, I got lazy. Especially during the winter, and then last year I wasn’t working out swordfighting, so I’ve grown and grown. And now, I seem to be a proud owner of a blue Rubbermaid storage tub that I have dubbed “The Fat Tub.” It contains all of the clothes I was “so proud” to wear a year and a half ago, but now cannot fit into.
I want to empty that tub.
I have some other health related things going on right now (I Think) that I want to take care of before I start a new program, but by Hook or by Crook, that tub shall be sank by this summer. Or better yet, replaced by “clothes that are too big.”
Do you have a ‘Fat Tub” or “Fat Pile” or maybe its called your “Thin Pile” or “stuff I can’t wear anymore” pile?

Rutter’s Ramblings is 2 years old today.
I really need to do a new show….
New Phone number – 206-888-2493, the other one was disabled for lack of use. Call and wish me a happy birthday!
For many people, going to the movies on Christmas is a tradition. In my case, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a tradition, but I can remember going to the movies the past 2 or 3 years on Christmas, and a few random Christmas watchings in other years gone by.
Last night was no exception as I wanted to go see National Treasure: Book of Secrets at the Movies 12 theater complex in Ames, Iowa. This is a complex run by Cinemark (the best seat in town, which features a furry character as its mascot…) and is really the only complex for new movies in town, except for the “college” theater that has the new art films. The Movies 12 has begun a program that a lot of Cinemark theaters have been doing – offering one discounted night a week where the matinee price is the price for a ticket all day.
The Movies 12 in Ames price happened to be $5 for shows all day on… you guessed it… Tuesdays.
They even had a press release
So when I went to get my ticket, imagine my surprise when it was $6.75 – the normal price. I looked up at the sign in the little climate controlled booth, saw the Tuesday verbage on the sign, shook my head in disbelief, and paid the $6.75.
I’m wondering if it is worth writing a letter to the editor in the local newspaper describing the situation. How about “local business takes advantage of Christmas – raises rates.” It certainly has me irritated that Cinemark took advantage of people’s Christmas traditions last night, but in the end, what can I do?
Except blog about it.

Reality shows have it bad these days. I admit growing up, I would tune into Circus of the Stars, or Battle of the Network Stars. It was fun seeing the celebrities you saw every night on TV battle each other in kayaks or run around in a cage with lions. Nowadays, however, with the reality shows take the term “celebrity” a little too lightly. Take for instance the contestants on “Celebrity Apprentice”…
I would rather see REAL, unknown people plucked out of the American landscape than watch this “celebrity” edition of The Apprentice. People will watch for Gene Simmons – period. So you know he will last until near the end.

For some reason my IMDB StarMeter is up 208%, which according to IMDB Pro means I am at #90,000 out of over 2 million people listed on IMDB.
Dunno why, but there ya go.
Of course it got me to pay the $14.95 to subscribe to IMDB pro, maybe that is what it intended….
I wanted to edit the theme a little bit on troyrutter.com, so I finally added a pic that wasn’t black and white. I’m not thrilled with my weight lately, so photos of me are hard to come by. But the one above was taken at Podcamp Boston 2 by none other than the great CC Chapman. So… why not use it?
Thanks CC!
