Do you know what Phosgene is? Apparently neither did the border police 11 years ago when they allowed the World War I chemical weapon substance enter the U.S. from Iraq. Or did they know? The items were clearly marked on shipping manifests 11 years ago, but went through security to be stored in a Manhattan office building used by the UN.
We are concerned about screening passengers for things in their toothpaste, while the government is carrying toxic materials onto our commercial airliners?
Phosgene can be used as a chemical weapon, and was used extensively in World War I as a choking agent. Both phosgene gas and liquid can damage skin, eyes, nose, throat and lungs. The material was in a liquid state when re-discovered this past week. According to police, the substance poses no danger to the public at large.
I found this great reference on phosgene here.

One of the hard things for me about sticking to a “diet” is the fact that I can’t cook. Or rather, I don’t THINK that I can cook, because its so much easier to go to Wendys and get that Spicy Chicken sandwich with fries – Biggie size.
Last night on Dateline (ABC) I saw mention of The Abs Diet, a bestseller that not only says why foods work, but includes 12 major foods that are “good” that can be mixed any way you want. And the best part – the menus / recipes are “male friendly.”
So here is the start of day #1 on The Abs Diet. Dinner consisted of a serving of “Macho Meatballs.” I am about ready for my snack of handful of Almonds as we speak. Now, I have never made my own meatballs before, but these were SO GOOD. Plus, I have enough to nuke and eat about 3 more dinners throughout the week.
I also bought some new “take and go” storage containers so I can take things to work instead of eating out every day. Those frozen dinners can’t hold a candle to the menus that The Abs Diet has, I can’t wait to try more. I am so impressed with the book, and my meatball creation, I had to take a photo.

It’s always a good feeling when you receive an unexpected check in the mail, no matter how small. Yesterday I received one of my semi-annual royalty checks from my book, Kids in the Biz. All my visions of making millions of dollars were shattered a long time ago, so I was very content to deposit a much, much, much smaller but nice incidental-money check.
Now all I need is about oh… 20-30X that amount and I’d be good.
