Perhaps TMI for most of the visitors here, but I have decided to make my FitDay.com profile public. Maybe knowing other people will see my progress will help me to actually follow through and do something about it.

The goal in February was arbitrary, it doesn’t have to be February. But you have to put something in. 3lbs a week is probably pushing it a little. (most places say 1lb a week is healthy) – but we’ll see how it goes. My starting weight is a guess too – I need a new scale.

So, here is the link!

You can see my calories consumed and all the other information from my consumption and calories expended. So, heeeeere we go!

There is supposed to be a saying about “hitting rock bottom” or “the lowest of lows” but I can’t seem to find it. Regardless, I think I’m there.

I finished NaNoWriMo, and that’s all fine and dandy. Now what? I auditioned for the role of Uncle Teddy in “Arsenic and Old Lace” – the dinner theater production at the community theater in February… I suppose that will take up some of my time between December – March… if I get the part.

My diet was broken in late September after some good progress. All it took was one rainy day to prevent me from walking and blammo.. I was out of there. I’ve bloated back again in full force, and with the holidays it is not going to be a pretty picture. I watched The Biggest Loser finale tonight on TV, flipping through to the Iowa State Basketball game here and there. What I would give to just say “Blam!” theres 50 lbs or so gone.

So yeah, the lowest of lows. Sometimes I just wish I could go to sleep and wake up twenty or so years earlier. Im not exactly “old”. Yet. I don’t think. Am I? LOL.

So yeah, this Christmas season isn’t exactly shaping up to be all fun and goodliness.

I look at my web page stats regularly – probably too much. One of the sections that always amazes me are the search phrases people type into google or yahoo, which then lead them here to troyrutter.com.

Some are understandable. For instance, I see a lot of referrals from people searching for Nora Dunn, and I took a picture of her that is in my gallery.. Another understandable one is for “Cobra Kai Costume” since I mentioned the one I made two years ago several times in my blog, and have a web site cobrakaidojo.com. I suspect now that Pat Morita died, that I will be getting more and more traffic there as well.

Some however, don’t make any sense. For instance…

I have had 16 referrals to troyrutter.com for people typing in: “i farted on santa s lap” which I guess is a song.. Don’t know why they are brought here, but hey – I welcome you. Click on the link above and you will be whisked away to Amazon.com – buy now, buy often.

Another search term is: “www.tmnt.com” – and while I used to like the little heroes in the half-shell, not sure why I am coming up for them either.

Anyway, if I find any other strange search terms, I will post them. They are kind of fun to go through.

I caught up on a lot of things I had been meaning to do lately … things I had planne don doing tomorrow or this weekend. SIGH, I guess that means I will be bored out of my mind the next few days. I am still deciding whether I will go in to work Friday. It isn’t a paid day, so I would be using comp time I have acquired if I don’t go in, but I really, really, really think I need the day off.

Im not sure what it is, but its like customers get meaner and meaner around the holidays, which is probably NOT my imagination. I just wish some of them would realize it half the time, and apologize after being totally inappropriate.

Keep dreaming, eh?

Auditions for “Arsenic and Old Lace” are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I plan on going Sunday which probably means going to the library to read the script on Saturday. Not necessary by any means, but might as well.

Well, I finished the goal of 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo tonight, but I think I still have a little more to do before I can consider it “done.” Then I am putting it away for a couple of weeks and then editing it down. First editing all the errors, and then editing it WAY down to maybe submit to Analog or Asimov… we’ll see.

It was a pretty intensive writing exercise, but Im glad I participated. Tony at work finished within half of an hour me too – so it’s all very cool.

Ah, here it is, the Monday before Turkey day, in all of its profound glory.

Yeah right.

This week is going to be looooooong and boring. I can only hope that most of our customers are taking the whole week off so they won’t be calling up complaining. Unfortunately, the holiday season is generally bad in this industry, since people are receiving fancy new digital cameras they don’t know how to use, so they end up trying to send 100 megabyte files to all their friends and family. Then the minute they get “mail undeliverable” – my phone rings.

“Im sorry, sir, you cant send anything over 20 megabytes in one file. No, I don’t know your camera. No, I don’t know your camera settings. No, i dont know how you can tell how big something is by just looking at the camera. Now, im sorry Im not familiar with your camera, you’d have to call them. I realize we provide your email, but the email isn’t having any problems, its the pictures you are trying to send, they are too big. No sir, I don’t know how to operate your camera…”

etc etc

I love the holidays.

Well, I had every intention of writing over the past two hours, but a call from the friend I was helping move web servers put a small wrench into the plans. I have, however been writing the past hour and am going to try and keep going for a little while longer tonight.

Tony, meanhile, has entered in just over 45,000 words into the NaNoWriMo profile. That’s going to be tough to equal, especially since I was down 3-4000 words from him on Friday. On Friday I was at 32,000 and now im at 43, so i would call that a successful 2 days. (I didnt write on Friday). Would be nice to tie him at 45,000 by tomorrow, but that might be pushing it. If all goes well we will both finish our rough drafts tomorrow or Tuesday – Wednesday at the latest.

Woo hoo!

Just took a hot shower and am ready to sit down and work on the novel a little more tonight. Its about wuarter till 8, so if I go until 10, I should manage to churn out a considerable chunk. I have my handy glass mug I bought at Walmart filled up (it holds 2 12 oz cans of pop) with Cherry Coke and I’m ready to go. I don’t have any snacks at the ready, mainly because all I have are Cheetos and those get messy while typing. I do have some Tater Tots in the freezer in case of emergency.
